Penang Budget Hotel - Cathay


This old historical budget hotel is conveniently located in the heart of George Town, Penang with most of the tourist sites within walking distance. Its location is just very convenient, be it for sightseeing, shopping and dining.

Do check out this unique check-in counter that is build right under the grand wooden staircase that leads to the upper floor. There is a vintage square clock hanging above it.

The beautiful part of this hotel is the two grand wooden staircases which is separated by a central open-air courtyard with beautiful metal work beams.

The interior decor is well maintained and give this place an interesting ambience. I can't help admiring all the lovely tiles in the interior as well as those on the exterior.

The room rates are very economical, with very basic and simple amenities. The hotel is located opposite the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion and nearby the city clubbing area.

  5. very well kept history building, but it was a waste for the unhealthy activities behind the scene. no wonder they are not in the tourism listing.
