The Indian milkman is an absolute gem, making life easier for many with the home-delivery services. I am sure some of you do have flashbacks of the milkman in your own home town.
I remember drinking fresh cows milk that was deliver to my doorsteps everyday in bottles when I was small. I have seen this container driven on the back of motobikes in Penang but wonder what it is. Now I know its the milkman. Thks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI trust the milk sold like this still comes with a thick layer of cream rising to the top of the bottle, non-homogenised, unlike what we get in the supermarkets now.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to know that those itinerant Indian milkmen still ply their trade. Half a world away from Penang and a generation ago, in Trinidad as a kid, was my last contact with them.
As in your report they were Indian too and some ladled the milk from tin containers, plainer ones though than in your photos, while others brought the milk to customers in old rum bottles washed and provided by the customers.
Always there was that head of sweet cream that we competed for.
