Chew Jetty, Penang

The Chew Jetty in Penang is a settlement of wooden houses built on silts above the sea shores and the residences are those with the ‘Chew’ surname (the first name). This place is also known by the locals as Seh Chew Keo and is the biggest of the waterfront settlements in George Town. The rows of houses are joined to each other by walkways made of wooden planks.
The jetty was the platform for passengers to embark and disembark from the boats to the shores and vice versa. Over the years, the old wooden houses have since caught up with the time and is equipped with modern amenities. It is one of the major tourist attraction in town.
